Reporting Down Channels: Your Guide to Smooth Streaming

Updated: Nov 1, 2024

Ever Had Your Channel Go Down for Maintenance Right When You’re Watching?*

Don’t worry—it’s a normal part of streaming. Here’s a quick, straightforward guide to get you back to watching in no time.

Why Channels Go Down

Sometimes channels need quick maintenance or updates to keep things running smoothly. Here’s what you can do when this happens:

Step 1: Update Your Apps

Keeping your apps current is key. Here’s how:

1. **Open the App Store** on your device’s Home Screen. If your device has multiple stores, find the one labeled “App Store.”

2. **Find Your Apps:** Inside, you’ll see a list of apps available for your device. Check for **Live TV**, **VOD**, and **Playback**.

3. **Look for Update Arrows:** If any app shows two arrows in a recycle symbol, it means an update is available. **Click on the app to install the update instantly**.

Step 2: Try an Alternative Source

If a channel still says “Down for Maintenance,” try this:

**Scroll Right** on your remote to access alternative sources.

**Select a New Source** to load the channel from a different feed.

Step 3: Check Similar Channels

For Pay-Per-View or live events, other channels may also be airing them:

- **Explore Similar Channels** like BT Sport or international channels that might have the event.

-Step 4: Refresh the Channel

**Press “1” on Your Remote** to change the channel and refresh the connection.

**Return to the Original Channel** to see if it’s back up.

If All Else Fails: Factory Reset

If nothing else works, try a **factory reset** for a fresh start:

1. **Factory Reset Your Device:** This clears unwanted data and blocked storage.

2. **Re-download Your Apps** from the App Store.

3. **Reset Your Router:** Unplug for 30 seconds to clear the cache, then plug it back in.

This will give you a clean connection and fresh app setup.

Final Tips for Smooth Streaming

1. **Update Apps Weekly:** Keep them current (green icons mean they’re up-to-date).

2. **Optimize Wi-Fi** by keeping your device close to the router.

3. **Consider a Device Upgrade** if it’s over 3–4 years old for the best streaming quality.
